U14's Hammer Seatonby Vince Reddick
Our talented Under 14's made the trip to Seaton for a rearranged League game and gave Seaton a night to forget! Spurred on by the closing time of the local Chippy (9pm), learned skipper Marcus Hoddinott won the toss and broke with tradition and inserted the oposition. This gave him two chances of making the Chippy on time! Either bowl them out cheaply or restrict them to a low score. Marcus acheived option two by mixing his bowling attack and Seaton finished 94 for 6 from their 20 overs, pick of our bowlers were Jake Reddick 2/12, Max Wenley 1/11 and Marcus himself with 1/15 from his four overs.
As the smell of chips wafted across the ground, Harry Skinner was in no mood to wait, crashing 16 off the first four balls befor being bowled off the 5th ball - the first over ended up going for 22 runs, what a start! Sam Boddington batted with maturity, playing many fine shots including 5 fours and 2 sixes on his way to retiring on 44. Will Marsh adopted the brute force approach and pummeled an unbeaten 35 from 12 balls. All these exploits added up to Exeter reaching exactly 100 from just 7 overs and having the game finished by 8 o'clock - plenty of time to get to the Chippy!
