Ben Green to tour Sri Lanka with England U17

by Richard Nelsey

Exeter CC player Ben Green is leaving on the weekend of April 5th for a three week tour of Sri Lanka with the England U17's!

Ben has been travelling to the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough over the winter months for training and development camps to get him and the other members of the squad ready for the Tour. Alongside this he has also been attending the Somerset CCC Academy with fellow Exeter player Ollie Sale under the guidance of Andrew Hurry.

The tour will consist of three One Day games and one 3 Day game versus the Sri Lankan U17 team. England Development Programme Chairman of Selectors, David Graveney believes "the training camp and tour of Sri Lanka will test their skills under extremely tough conditions". As for Ben's thoughts ...

"I'm nervous, as I'm sure most are, but at the same time excited in anticipation of what this great opportunity, that I've been lucky to be given (... we think you deserve it Ben!), will provide me. I know we complain about playing in 10 degrees but I think 40 degrees could be a bit hot! That will be a new experience and something to worry about as well as how talented the opposition are. However, I can't wait!!! I am looking forward to taking the opportunity with two hands (... like your catches hopefully!) and enjoy every moment."

Everyone at Exeter I'm sure will be wishing Ben the very best of luck and hope to hear of some good performances with bat and ball whilst in Sri Lanka!
